![[ castle ruin for Martha ] : Trøjborg is a castle ruin from the fourteenth century, beautifully located in the open marsh landscape. The castle ruin is a storied place, which has been the object of many exciting stories. One of these stories is about Peter Ranzau, who became the owner of the castle in 1566 in return for his achievements against the Swedes.Ranzau was a tough and uncompromising lord of the castle, who did not treat his men well nor the people serving him. Peter Ranzau pulled down the old castle. Instead he built a beautiful Renaissance castle on the place.It is told that. Peter Ranzau could not find rest after his death. Ranzau is haunting the ruins and the home farm. Iron chains are clanking across the stone bridge and Ranzau is wandering restlessly through the fields. It is told that during one of this nightly walks he met a farmer. He gave the farmer a gold coin.
