    I breathe
    in moments
    of experiencing
    the ananda of my

    heart opening wider
    in the spacecruising of
    inquiry and a breathtaking
    3 dimensional mouthorgasm

    when biting into fabulous fresh
fruit and the exploring in general
and in particular my creative curiosity
when indulging me with the next inspiring

object to be captured by click of camera and
the tapping of fingertips on keyboard and paint
and pencil on paper and the dwelling into beauty

or delighting in gais talkabouts when sharing loving
friendships or the learning to unlearn and anticipating
the next move or the thrill of gazing into eyes and falling

into their love or the walkabouts in layers of sensuality or
that sacred sexuality in a sassy samana of tantric possibility
and dancing and doing yoga or racing on rollerskates smiling
breathing into the joy of living the embrace in the moment now..

To our eyes flowers bloom and fade so quickly that we can't keep up with deadheading the garden but we're just the same as those flowers. We're slower-motion blossoms. You know the end part of American Beauty, where Lester remembers all the wondrous bits, that's how I feel every day.

Every single day something is so beautiful and tender and fragile and temporary that tears come and I fall in love and grieve all at once and that's the world, that's what life is like, really like, if we look at it  – if we don't look away or pretend or get drunk or go shopping or numb ourselves as fast as possible because it's all just too much.

Every day is a celebration and everything is precious and amazing and it's all temporary and all of it hopefully breaks our hearts, and then maybe one day they break open and the whole world can just rush through us. I love being here so much.
jeannie  - from heartbreak and joy

Intelligent practice always deals with just one thing: the fear at the base of human existence, the fear that I am not. and of course I am not, but the last thing I want to know is that. I am impermanence itself in a rapidly changing human form that appears solid. I fear to see what I am: an ever-changing energy field. I don't want to be that. so good practice is about fear. fear takes the form of constantly thinking, speculating, analyzing, fantasizing. with all that activity we create a cloud to keep ourselves safe in make-believe practice.

true practice is not safe; it's anything but safe. but we don't like that  so we obsess with our feverish efforts to achieve our version of the personal dream. such obsessive practice is itself just another cloud between ourselves & reality. the only thing that matters is seeing with an impersonal spotlight: seeing things as they really are. when the personal barrier drops away, why do we have to call it anything? we just live our lives. and when we die, we just die. no problem anywhere.

shadow dance

Posted on Aug 7th, 2008 by tara : samana tara
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 07, 2008:

.........how do you allow for expansion in your life? what reminds you to open to new perspectives? how do you keep making room for growth in your world, so as to include more and be more aware?

I am curious with a passion, raising my level of awareness is a main pursuit. I seem to be
forever scratching at the surface finding small cracks and a new path to follow without
reminders or making allowances for it to happen; It can be inquiry in my own space,
sharing with a friend, therapist, tantra partner, with kindred spirits in a workshop.
I go to hidden places to explore, understand and know myself, to gently let go
of attachments for my heart to dance wildly and free.

The illusion of fear has brought me to a hault on occasion when I've ventured deep into
my forest and met a demon or two. I've learned new steps and twirls, sometimes even
gotten myself into a trance to face the demon in a friendly dance. It is when I watch
the shadow I cast, I learn the most. I cultivate what I find in my secret garden and
look for new perspectives in the world around me. Listening to and embracing
the experiences of other humans;  Amazement never ceasing, the journey
being the destination and the very purpose. To me, living, is expanding.

I imagine that yes is the only living thing.

to travel is to live

Posted on Aug 12th, 2008 by tara : samana tara
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 12, 2008:

....... In what way are you a good traveler? What qualities do you have that make you good at journeying and travels? What aspects of your character make you a good companion on a trip?

[ nomade - scuplture by jaume plesna ]

I am a nomadic bohemian at heart & have often felt like a tourist in my own life. My wandering mind travels to many places during a day trickered by words, emotions, imagery, music, taste & smell, setting the scene for the oddest things to happen. I guess my soul is in on the stunt too. My backpack, lil trolley & beautybox are on permament display in my tipi whether I have been on the road or not. Their presence tell me that I can get up & go with a moment's notice. Just so that I don't forget. I have a mantra I whisper to myself when the shit hits the fan: 'I can always go to Barcelona'.

Four months in Greece with 26 kilos jammed into a backpack that was a disgrace to functional design taught me to travel light. I picked a whopper of a book, Beyond Power by Marilyn French to entertain me on the journey. My biceps & calves were absolutely stunning that summer. Don't ask what else I brought with me. I will just say that I have since managed to trek the scottish highland for mths with one change of clothes.

I am also an extroverted introvert with high adaptability, well mannered, able to eat anything offered to me & I can sleep wherever. I have the advanced first aid thang & never panic. I'm an excellent navigator, thrive in chaotic situations & laugh at the silliest things. And I will keep walking when my paws are sore. I do best when I am roughing it rural style, which is also my fav kind of travelling.

I have experienced minor difficulties due to my flair for assecorizing when going urban. Yes we are talking ocd-like behavior, the kind not easily medicated; Some monitoring may be needed for me not to get lost in a maze of beautybox, hat- & hand bags, trolleys & an unspecified selection of matching shades, scarfs, umbrellas & you guessed it, shoes for any thinkable occasion..

And there will be any thinkable occasion & it is beside the point that we are merely popping over to London for the weekend (where you can buy anything). ..'Hon, hurry up with them last two trolleys, the taxi is a tickin' & the plane ain't gonna wait while you drag your feet'. I'm like the best girl scout on the planet. Cool, calm & collected; Ready for everything, with hardly any supervision needed. Let's go!

the greatest little show on earth

Posted on Aug 16th, 2008 by tara : samana tara

[ greatest lil show on earth ]

sliding slowly sensously into mode indigo..
watching us casting a shadow on the moon,
leaving an impression, a momentary imprint.
dwelling in the beauty of this universal miracle,
marvelling at the greatest little show on earth..

I love the moon & I am strongly influenced by her energy in various ways. When she is full, like now,  she begs la loba in me to come dance.. I like to play with tools for life & astrology is one of them. I am more often than not, pleasently surprised at the astounding accuracy when pointing me to tendencies in my energy, preferences, moods & emotions, not to mention the analysis of my personality based on my birth chart. The following landed in my inbox today & I like to share. Eclipses do not happen all that often & although this one does not affect my personal chart, I find it interesting nevertheless. If you are not familiar with your chart, you can do one here.

A partial eclipse of the Moon is taking place tonight. The entire eclipse will be visible in most of Europe and Africa, and partially visible in South America and Australia. During a lunar eclipse, the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow on the Moon. Eclipses always come in pairs, and this eclipse follows the dramatic solar eclipse of August 1.

Eclipses are like big exclamation points and since this eclipse is in Aquarius, a sign that is focused on the workings of the larger group or community, expect confusing leadership situations, power struggles and sharp words. In addition to the heightened emotions of this full Moon, an active pattern of planetary aspects also adds drama to this eclipse. The placement of Aquarius in your personal chart will define how it impacts your life over the next five months.

If Aquarius is in your First or Seventh House, the eclipse will signal a period of personal development and growth. And if Aquarius is in your Seventh House, the focus will be on growth and development in your relationships.

An eclipse in the Second House will always make you more aware of your attachments: the things that you believe that you cannot survive without. But an eclipse in the Eighth House highlights your responsibilities to others: both physically and emotionally.

When occurring in the Third House, you will be forced to confront fears and your communication style. And in the Ninth House, you will be forced to consider the bigger picture of your life. How do you want to grow and expand?

In the Fifth or Eleventh House, the focus on the next five months will be on issues of individual expression and group participation. In the Fifth House, the eclipse will stir up the creative urge, or represent changes in relationships with children or with casual romances. Eclipses in the Eleventh House can often indicate changes in relationships with our peers and friends.

If Aquarius occupies your Sixth or Twelfth House, the focus over the next five months will be on your health -- both physical and spiritual. Eclipses in the Sixth House often make you aware of your physical needs and illness, while in the Twelfth House, they highlight religious or spiritual needs.

the greatest little life saver in my universe

Posted on Aug 17th, 2008 by tara : samana tara
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for August 17, 2008:

........what, or who, has saved your life?

mostly miracles. I would not have been here without the natural occurence of that particular phenomena. I have been very close to dying more than a few times..some too horrid to mention here & one time my astounding catlike reflexes got me out of a situation with a barracuda gone roque, determined to go balistic on me; No time to load my spear gun & somehow I managed to wap! him goood on the head with it instead. He got away but I tell ya, he didn't swim straight after that.

[ life saver ]

This lil fella is still saving my life. It's inside my head & too small for the metal detectors to go off; Or so I presume as I am allowed to bring it with me when travelling.

My main hero, Lars Hasse, no1 brain surgeon in my neck of the woods, cracked open my skull for the second time & put it there. He has hands like a construction builder with short fingers. It freaked me somewhat as I wanted him to have long sleek pianist like fingers for such delicate business.

booker T and the MG's Time is Tight

When I woke after the surgery, he was there holding my hand. He told me that when he peeked into my brain he knew his skill was not adequate to perform the stunt needed. The lil bubble in my head had gone & burst in a most akward place.

He did it anyway & it took him 11 hrs. He said it must have been the interference of a miracle that had made it possible, although he was not in the habit of believing in such. I'm still in awe that he dared & chose to share that he was scared.

[ hang ten ]

depends on the situation at hand & my dispositon in the mo...

1. the plan b approach:  run off to barcelona and never look back

2. the emancipated approach:  sit with it, feel the pain till it changes

3. the reframe aka near denial approach:  think of folks who are worse off

4. the professional approach: shift of focus*  till objectivity is back in place

5. the immature approach:  pick bellybutton, sob, call friend & whine about it

6. the near panic approach:  speeddialing therapist whilst popping them blue pills

7. the denial approach:  note to self, deal with it tomorrow, then drink till oblivion occurs

* shift of focus can fx be done with the occasional twirl when dancing..

[ in the red of passion ]

[ rrrrrrreds by dawn dexter ]
we began the migration with
anticipation & trepidation..
as well as a sense of solidarity.
we hummed an ancient
flying tune as we floated
together into the unknown

notes of powerful playing
within possibilities of perception.
floating still, thinking of hours
gone by, grasping the full extent
of singing, flying, crying, calling
your name.. tearing into the
deepest red
of passion as we
fell fell further into a sensual
samana of tantric creation.
the door is open wide..wide
open now & I am left with
joyful butterflies playing
inside to the sound
of trumpets & pipers.
no lollygagging walk
no hand me down diamonds
of secondhand emotions
dressed up like the real thing.
no clutching to the tattered
old bag of flight plan b.
this is the radical reality
of authenticity, the reddest
red
of instinctive loving hearts..

make me grin with your spin

Posted on Aug 30th, 2008 by tara : samana tara

[ first lady spin ]

It seems to me the world scene has gone into a selfspin these last couple of days. First, Putin played the provocateur with his pearl of conspirational thinking & did a Michael Moore on the world media to divert attention from his president's blunder. Then McCain spins out of control & decides to insult the intellect of half a nation. And a big bunch of folks watching from the other side of the world. The poor bugger is either beyond desperation, delusional about his life expectancy or maybe he is actually convinced that he & his Praline can pull the George stunt of being a big banana without being plugged in at all.

As if that wasn't enough to keep me choking on my coffee, my country's first lady is being put in play in the attempt to improve the ailing goodwill towards her husband. She excels by taking part in a gameshow 'crazy about dancing' & goes samba all the way dressed in bling & bingoarms. My head is spinning & the lil tibetan twirls I applied earlier ain't helping much.

Unfortunately it is unfair to make each personage responsible for their actions. It is blatant they have forgotten to apply common sense & the option went walkabout with the glorification of various spin doctors overrated ability to profile, analyse & manipulate with mass perception of events. I blame it on their entourage. Get a grip you spinners, I am not entertained.
