This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for June 30, 2008:
..........what is happiness?
- understanding that happiness is a momentary happening arising from fully embracing all
that I am & feel, has paved the way for me to feel happy; Sometimes sitting with a deep pain resonates within as happiness. Being openhearted & -minded & curious with a passion, leads
me to an acceptance of what is; These conditions creates a feeling of congruence & balance,
which to me is happiness a moment at a time..
I feel at ease & lighthearted when others accept & love me as I am, so naturally I'd pick that
to bring happiness about in others; That being said, I don't think that any outer circumstance,
incl. my love & acceptance can truly make anyone happy, ultimately that would be their own responsibility & doing. I can't say what the best way is for others as it boils down to individual values.
oh.. & the looking at each moment with the eyes of a wondrous child. I find that too tends to
make me feel happy; like eating cherries, a tender stroke of a summer's breeze, a soft kiss,
looking at the stars dance & so much more.. life makes me so happy sometimes it hurts.
& I did a piece on happiness earlier that I like to repost with today's reflection..
happiness is a full tank!

We humans, or perhaps more precise, spiritual beings having a human experience,
are indeed a piece of work, the finest machinery ever to be created (what we know of,
that is). Our maximum powerfuel, love, the only fuel to ensure this advanced ‘technology’ running at it’s highest potential, can seem hard to come by.
Fortunately it takes a bit more than pulling into the nearest gas station for a‘fill me up’.
There is more to the picture than having it & getting it. It seems to me it takes a whole lot
of searching, not for the right gas station, although a lot of time is mistakenly spend on
doing that, but more so, on figuring out how to unscrew the lid on the tank!
We do not come with a manual, a small bummer on behalf of the Creator or maybe not?
Sometimes we may ask for help with the tight & stubborn lid on the tank, only to end up
being dependant on others to do the job & finding that we are powerless on our own.
Sometimes we race at maximum speed convinced the answer lies in the golden pot
at the end of the rainbow, just to find the vision of the rainbow vanishing as we drive..
Maybe a flat tire or even a major crash forces us to pull the brakes & hold still in the
pitstop for a while. Here is where the journey truly becomes interesting as a choice
presents itself. We can choose to worry about the cost of fixing the car or be quiet
here, now & listen.. listen to the whispers of the soul telling us: there is no lid!
It can be tricky when sharing this kind of revelation..The cat may run off & your peers
might start thinking you’re crazy & deranged. It may seem like a curse, but believe me,
it is a blessing! When shredding the illusion of the lid, the heart opens in its natural state,
knowing that nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists.. love is.
& to answer the last bit.. spot on words from wise dude albert..
Is happiness a worthwhile pursuit?
written in old age:
I have never belonged wholeheartedly to a country, a state, nor to a circle of friends,
nor even to my own family. When I was still a rather precocious young man, I already
realized most vividly the futility of the hopes and aspirations that most men pursue
throughout their lives. Wellbeing and happiness never appeared to me as an absolute
aim. I am even inclined to compare such moral aims to the ambitions of a pig.

A beautiful blog which I so enjoyed reading, loved the Einstein quote too, not just a clever man but wise also.
blowing you a kiss with a mouthful of cherry pits.
Whoa almost got beaned with a cherry pit Tom.
I have discovered that if i do not make happiness an objective, bliss does tend to seek me out more often, sill not really sure what mechanism is behind it all,and i still am grateful for those moments of melancholy cuz they wake me up and “happiness tends to put me to sleep so does depression but that's another story ;-)…maybe i'm screwed up…hell i AM screwed up but I don't think,if given the chance i would change this..it is what it is,like this blog full of life and cherries and eventually the pits.
Hi Gais :-) thx Gael & yeah, him Einstein always makes me laugh & think & I adore
the combo of slightly mad scientist, highly spiritual being & the very unique hair style..
God, I wish there were more dudes like him around..
& uuhhhmm..
Tom yr cherry pit kiss sorta compensates in creating a blissful moment of happiness ;-)
..which leads me to yr words melady b.. I sense the notion here that yr definition of happiness is that its a constant thang, which is what makes you sleepy? I could as
well have used the word bliss cuz to me its the same, something that happens in the
moment; with the emphasis on moment & more so, the embrace of all kind of feelings.
I think the definition of happiness as a lack of non happiness is false.
And really, the only reason why there is a tendency to view certain feelings as desirable
or not, is based on the fear of pain, which I believe is vastly overrated. Like you say, it is
what it is; Neither good, nor bad… its merely an experience..
Yeah like the highway with bumps at exact intervals and then I become sleepy…very sleepy (insert snore here).
I like the unexpected bumps, the detours..i do like to sleep too, just not from boredom (insert snore here)
it's like commercials on t.v. sometimes they are annoying (hence the fabulous option of those delicious publicity free channels),yet sometimes some commercials are hysterical, and some can even do something to my heart…but in the end it's still a commercial trying to sell you something, and I feel that way about happiness like it is an advert trying to sell you something you don't really need to survive and thrive, instead it's more about publicity free programming where you never really know here you're going ,and there's a real chance it will hurt, and feel real weird ,and touch bliss, and tears, and that oh so amazing feeling of lust and hot and humid meltdowns.
You're right on the money a continuos flow of happy…does this even exist,an why are so many commercials about happy anyways? Still I'm a sucker for a happy ending and nattering on today…B.B.step away from the coffee
OMG I'm a dichotomy ;-)
- rather splendid of you to compare happiness with commercials & I do love yr moments of dichotomy :-) .. maybe the advertising industry (or barbara cartland ) is to blame for the vast misunderstanding of happiness as an absloute term? such a paradox cuz I do think that a lot of unhappiness is the result of 'bying' into that notion & how come it is so difficult for so many to decipher the utter cynicism in that message & fuck, don't get me started here, I'm on my second perky & know a whole lot more about the world of commercials than is becoming of my sanity.. to make this rant really short, I'll say stop watching them altogether.. they will fuck with your mind ever so subtlely & definetely the mind of yr kids.. in not so subtle ways. There is a life after cable ;-)
I'm speechless.
I'd buy momentarily flabbergasted, but speechless? No way José, not you Aley.. wassup? ;-)
I heard that if you play some commercial backwards you can here the name Barbara Cartland over and over again and in some instances develop a nervous tick that consists of obsessive buying of red roses, waiting until your married to have sex, spend hours waiting by the window for that guy on a horse, and developing a fondness for potpourri.
OMG don't get me started on chintz
you are soo funny!! :-D
& EEIIII! a seriously scary link there.. fuck that is one gastly piece of chintz LOL!
Here's a little video for happiness,man that's some strong legs…
.. or a desperate need to find a loo ;-)
thx Bridget, you're soo cool, I love how you make me laugh. There is too much noise in my head today for free associating & coming up with a groovy link for you or maybe I just need to eat? ('o').. if so, I'll be back. For now, the vid made me think of skipping, another instant happy booster; Back when I was into that horrid advertising biz & I'd had a real rotten day, I'd slip off them high heelers & do a bit of happy skipping along on the walk home.. I'd usually get a couple of big grins from other folks & grin back at the ones gawking oddly at me ;-)
you two are a hoot …
good god … that video made me smile!!!! :-)
Heyy Peri Divine!
How's the moving going?
Are you feeling the energy leves getting higher & higher from saying bye bye to 'stuff'?
& here's another that is likely to make you smile & Bridget, I got one for you & then
I spotted it over on victoria's blog, so go there for a look see, a listen & a read.. :-)
True joy & happiness are valuable. Survival may be threatened by bad actions of others, but your blog is simply the best and all of the comments help bring about smiles. You are so listened to and you do influence others. If we had blog prizes of the day, I vote for yours. :-)
Tara,
There is a vital error in the US Declaration of Independence that we have a right to the Pursuit of happiness. That’s saying that Humans, or maybe just US Americans have the right to be UNHAPPY, cuz the shortest path to unhappiness is pursuit.
Orgazmic wealth decrees that only “I can make me happy” and even that is a mistatement.
Happiness is a choice. Happy no matter what is the choice.
Happy is not frivolous, it is a recognition of our natural state of living feeling breathing sensual beingness. It doesn’t take much, just a little waking up.
You are an awakener Tara.
Clara, thank you so much for adding some orgasmic wealth to this oddly asensual blog
of mine.. now pondering how I managed to write about happiness without? ('o') .. guess
I'm up for a massage orsomethingrather ;-).. And yes, happy no matter what is the choice;
And don't get me started on error in the US declaration of Independence.. Is that the one written when slavery was still the thang.. or is that called something else? better hold me horses here.. prrrrhhh!
